:Tawau team to China

TAWAU, A group of district councilors and engineers of the Tawau Municipal Council (TMC) to be led by it’s president Haji Salsidu Ibrahim will travel to China under arrangement made by the Community of Overseas Exchange Association of GuangDong Province, China, to carry out an in-depth study on waste, traffic, tourist, beautification and other management system of Shenzhen, China.

The team with 33 members which include member of the association and the district’s Chinese Chamber representatives would be particularly interested in garbage management currently being used there.

A spokeperson for the team said that they are going for the trip to bring back knowledge and to prepare a report for relevant authorities.

Members of the team are paying for all expenses themselves.

He said that current district’s dumpsite located at Merotai could not sustain the rubbish and move is on the way to acquire an approximately 200 acres of land at Balung as a long term plan with plan to preserve the water at Balung river.
